Recently, this hands-on horse owner of over 40 years has decided to bring his business a little closer to home and make it more accessible to the private horse owner. He understands the needs of horse owners, being a breeder of world class Dutch Harness Horses with his son on his 60-acre farm, and a trainer of nationally and inter-nationally successful driving horses. His new business venture, Bill Duffy’s Custom Tack and Harness in Ashby, MA, focuses on selling directly to horse owners and tack shops. Duffy has a great handle on what horse owners are looking for, as this is truly a great example of horse people manufacturing and creating for horse people. In addition to producing the same high-quality products that we have all come to rely on, Duffy will be offering tack rebuilding and repairing services and will offer custom tack work.

His products are all made with high quality American or European leather. Duffy explains, “We have access to all qualities of leather, one of the largest challenges for harness and tack makers is knowing where to find your materials, but due to my experience and former company, I have some great resources and know where to find what I need.” His impressive workshop includes seven sewing machines, four spreading tables, die-cutting machines and stacks of leather just ready for action.

The stacks of leather are certainly going to be put to good use; Duffy’s product line extends past that of many tack stores. Driving harnesses, custom training equipment, girths and halters are just a sampling of the products that he offers. “If its leather, we can make it,” Duffy says proudly. “We have the set-up and the machinery to be able to accommodate any request.” Bill Duffy offers custom solutions to any problem that a horse owner can think of.

Hard to fit horse or pony? Bill is happy to take measurements and create custom equipment. Bill puts to use his over 45 years of horse experience, in a variety of disciplines, to assist you in whatever your training equipment needs may be.

Top horsemen such as USDF Gold Medalist and USET Long-listed rider, Sharon McKuster of Souhegan Farm, and her former student, USDF Gold Medalist Erin Shea of Erin Shea Dressage, ride daily using Bill Duffy’s tack, and can attest to its longevity and ability to stand up to wear and tear. Corey Hardy of Newbury Farm jumps at the Grand Prix level and has used Bill’s products for over five years now. He feels that craftsmanship of his products is unequalled.

Bill Duffy’s Custom Harness and Tack brings back the quality of products that Americans are known for, hand making each piece with the utmost care and standing behind his products for a lifetime.
